Lauren Starkey

webDSC_1418 edit cropclose upLauren began her career in publishing with the Oxford English Dictionary, where she worked for eight years as assistant to the Director of the American Reading Program. She wrote her first book in 2000, and has since written 20 more. Lauren also writes, edits, and ghostwrites for corporate clients and enjoys helping students improve their high-stakes college admissions writing. Lauren is a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors, and was listed in Who’s Who in American Writing.

While the subjects she covers are diverse, Lauren specializes in business and educational topics. Passions which haven’t made it to the page (in no particular order): gardening, Sting, Key West, Italian language and culture, Montreal, and cooking. Favorite books include Ahab’s Wife, Evidence of Things Unseen, A Prayer for Owen Meany, Elegance of the Hedgehog, and everything by Elena Ferrante, David Sedaris and Louise Penny.

Lauren has served on the boards of the Green Mountain Montessori School and St. Andrew’s Highland Dancers of Vermont, where she was President from 2008-2011. She lives in Vermont with her husband, youngest daughter, and faithful companion Ella.
